Papyr.is exists because e-ink tablets deserve better content. Most PDFs on the internet were designed for A4 laser printers or tiny phone screens — neither of which resembles a reMarkable 2 or Kindle Scribe. We designed everything here specifically for the 6"–10.3" e-ink canvas: generous margins, high-contrast type, grid lines that reproduce cleanly without anti-aliasing artefacts.

Crosswords were the starting point. We noticed that newspaper crossword PDFs almost never work well on e-ink — the grids are too small, the clue text too dense. So we redrew them from scratch, tuning every element for the medium.

We added sudoku next, then the typeset classics — public-domain texts re-set with careful attention to leading, measure, and hyphenation, in a way that commercial e-reader apps rarely bother with. Finally, the art collections: high-contrast line drawings formatted as screensavers for tablets that support custom sleep-screen images.

Everything costs under $5. We think good design should be accessible.
